Arrival in Paris

I've made it to Paris! The weather is beautiful, and Vigita, the wonderful man from the PAA who picked me up at the airport, said that it is going to start getting really warm. You'll never believe his car. It's a Renault mini-van/SUV and it doesn't have a key! He has a card with some kind of a computer chip that he puts into a slot, and then pushes a button to turn the car on.... I took a picture of it with my iPhone, but I forgot my charger cable at home and don't want to pay for the data roming to email it to myself, so you'll have to wait to see what it looks like!

The only glitch in my flight was the fact that Delta now charges for the second suitcase. I called Prof. Blake to ask her to look into the Air France policy, and it's a good thing, because Air France now only allows one suitcase, too!! Prof. Blake sent an email to the students to warn them. If I had known, I would probably not have changed anything, though. About half of my second suitcase was full of small gifts for the people we're going to see!

The global phone I got from Lasell isn't working either. I tried all sorts of settings, and I was so sure I had figured everything out from the US that I left the manual at home! Thank goodness for Skype and the Internet. I'm going to read up on the settings tonight, and call the phone from Skype to listen to the one message that's waiting for me!

I'm staying in what must be one of the smallest appartments in the world, but it's clean and comfortable - and very well organized with lots of storage! I've gotten all my things unpacked and now that I've kept my promise to myself to make a blog posting, I'm going to do what most travel authorities strongly oppose when it comes to dealing with jet lag - take a nap!
