Of course John Galliano's collection is typically off-the-wall; this season his inspiration was the French Revolution... as you've never imagined it for menswear! He has a re-invented the fanny pack - I love the little leather bags he's showing hanging from belts, and the large-cuffed leather boots are really sharp. His presentation was typically theatrical, but if you look closely through the costume theme there are some fashion-forward wearable pieces.
The last time I was at the menswear shows in Paris was in the summer of 2007 - we got to go to several of the shows. The energy in the city is palpable - even in the Metro! On our way to one of the shows we were on the Metro with the models... and of course the students struck up a conversation with them!
Next summer a group of 17 Fashion students from Lasell will be going to Paris during the Fall Menswear shows, and they'll even be back stage dressing the models! Be sure to check this blog then, because I'll have the students on as guest bloggers.
