Project Mozart - Lasell Rocks!!

As many of you know, the Boston Symphony Orchestra sponsored a fashion design competition called “Project Mozart”. The marketing office of the BSO requested that Boston area fashion schools submit sketches 5 candidates per school to compete for a $150 award that would enable the designer to physically make fashion designs inspired by Mozart’s music.

Out of 11 total student designers chosen from the first round of selection, 5 Lasell College designers received $150 and worked independently to craft their designs.

Last night, Lasell College administrators, faculty and students attended the BSO Mozart performance and witnessed with great pride the astounding work of April Leblanc, Rheanna Oliver-Palanca, Christian DiPietro, Emily Hancock and Charles Newman.

The judges chose Charlie Newman's design
as one of the top THREE!!!!

All of the designers should be (and are) VERY proud!
The group synergy that was created through sharing the preparations
and the process was remarkable.

A BIG thank you goes to the dedicate Fashion Department faculty:

Professor Vallely who brought this competition to the department,
Professor Blake who organized the whole process and was the contact person for the BSO,
Professor Carey who worked with the students to develop exceptional statement papers, and
Professors Morris, Farrell and Ruppert-Stroescu for technical support!!
Here are some "process photos."
