This metalwork looks could be a modern dragon sculpture, but it's just a barrier so that people don't jump over the bannister onto the street below...
When I'm in Paris, I always see interesting light fixtures that could be do-it-yourself projects. This one was in the Turkish restaurant where Peter and I ate last night, called Le Risaille . The lamp is a bundle of silver wires with what looks like christmas tree lights distributed inside of the space. It is really unique!
La Risaille is a lovely place where the people are friendly and the food is very fresh and absolutely delicious. I had the chicken breast on a kind of a puree of roasted eggplant and yogurt that was very tasty. Peter had a fish called Barr that was very good too, but it was a challenge to deal with the bones. Only order that dish when you're with someone you're very comfortable with! This restaurant is on the corner of rue St. Jacques and rue des Ursulines - a spot quite dear to my heart because when I first came to Paris, my appartment was just across the street on rue St. Jacques and the Paris American Academy's main office was on rue des Ursulines.
The appartment where I am staying now is by the metro Gobelins, on a dead-end street just off of rue des Gobelins. I'll never forget where to turn for my street, because of this crazy pizza place on the corner: Speed Rabbit Pizza. Come to find out, it's a chain!

When I first saw it, I was like, do they eat rabbit on pizza in France now?? But then I realized that the "speed rabbit" must be a way of saying, like, speedy gonzales or something that means fast delivery. The guys that run it came out and talked to me when I was taking the picture. I'll try their pizza and let you know how it is. Don't know if I'll have the rabbit deliver it, though, as it is so close to my house ;-)

You can't see this picture very well, but it is the French luxury version of the Container Store! It says, "closets to your custom measurements" ... and instead of having rows and rows of plastic containers for your every need, there are plush chairs and desks with computers at them - which I imagine you experience as your storage needs are being examined in a very personal way!
